We send MCU directors and volunteers to community groups, workplaces and schools across the Island to talk about credit unions, fair finance, and budgeting. Free of charge, in your venue, at a time that suits you.
Credit unions, explained
What a credit union is, how it differs from a bank, and why every member is also an owner. Great for general-interest community groups.
Budgeting and saving on the Island
Practical talk on managing household finances on the Isle of Man — energy bills, payroll deduction, building an emergency fund, choosing a loan over a payday lender.
Fair credit and avoiding loan sharks
What happens when people can't access mainstream credit, the risks of high-cost lenders, and how credit unions and benefits-deducted loans fit in.
Three things we need from you.
- 01A date and a venue.
Anywhere on the Island works. We bring ourselves; you bring the room.
- 02A rough audience.
Five people in a community hall is fine; a school assembly of three hundred is fine. Tell us roughly who we'll be talking to and we'll tune the talk accordingly.
- 03A topic.
Pick from the list opposite, or tell us what your group cares about and we'll build something around it.
Email us with your event details and we'll come back inside a working day.
Please include a proposed date (or two), the venue, expected audience size, and the topic you're interested in.
